Stay the Course.
Updated: Feb 22, 2021
Today I’m hearing “stay the course.”
To “stay” takes active effort.
It means to ignore the urgency to get moving.
Ignore the voice to run or find your own protection.
It means avoid looking for other ways out, when there’s only one “right” way.
It means ignore what the majority of the world is doing.
It means to stay quiet when you are restless.
It takes surrender, fortitude and strength.
To stay the course, you must know where you are going. Which way will lead you to your desired destination? Who will you let lead you?
This takes faith and trust. Allowing yourself to be led and trusting the way will take you to where you want to go.
In Luke 2:36-40, Anna was able to “stay the course”. She “stayed the course” through sorrow, through death, and through loneliness. Aren’t all these obstacles just being used to try and take her off the course? But, Anna knew Jesus and she knew that Jesus was the way the truth and the life! So let us pray that we can have the same grace of faith that Anna did. Let us pray we can have the same grace of surrender, perseverance and trust. Jesus is the way the truth and the life and with Him and in Him we can “stay the course” in this broken world!
