We need Veronica and Mary
Updated: Mar 10, 2021
God showed me as the church walks her Passion there’s a need for Veronica. Veronica was the brave woman who passed through the guards to offer Jesus a handkerchief to wipe His face as He walked to cavalry. Someone to walk alongside to show the church His image. Someone to walk along and show compassion. Handing someone a handkerchief is hospitable. It’s a way of showing charity. Just standing out in courage with all of the guards and approaching Jesus was another sign of hospitality, greeting Jesus as he entered the walk to His crucifixion. Showing His image will remind the church, He is with us, sharing the yoke. Showing His image will remind the church they are living out the definition of being a Christian as they follow in His footsteps. Walking alongside them with compassion shows them, we are the Body of Christ and we are walking His Passion with love and fulfilling His life in us and in the Church.
The name Veronica literally means “true image”. Showing them His face and “true image” is sharing with them their own identity, of who they are in Him. One can’t become who God’s created them to be if they aren’t standing in the fullness of their identity.
Then God brought my attention to Our Beloved Mother, Mary. Mary was also there. Her presence was different than Veronica’s. Mary also shows us the image of Jesus. Not His image on a handkerchief, but His image through her actions and her emotions. Mary’s body was weak, her humility was unorthodox, her tears showed pain, her love was tangible and her emotions became alive to any onlooker. You see, Mary was the mirror image, the true image of Jesus during the Passion, not just on the outside, but in her interior as well.
As we know God’s identity for us is we are His precious sons and daughters. We are His beloveds. Not in anything we’ve done, but through what He’s done and who He is. But most importantly, to bring His Kingdom here on Earth we have to be His Image. He is The Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. So being the living Trinity by loving, speaking, praying and acting out His Will through Him and in Him. Living out His Will with infused grace, the fruits of the Holy Spirit and with the charisms of the Holy Spirit to gain all souls for His Kingdom. Less we not forget that in doing this we need the Mediatrix of all grace, we need Our Mother to guide and protect us. We need His “perfect, mirror image” to light the way.
