When my flesh fails
Updated: Feb 22, 2021
On days when my flesh fails me I will use every ounce I can to stay above the line of despair where Satan wants to drag me down. I will bless myself with Holy Water all day long and announce with vigor “I am baptized and a member of Your army, Lord!”
I will cry out “Abba” and believe Your promise that You are carrying me. I will praise You when I’m weary because the stars, the ocean and the mountains still praise You.
If I can’t walk in Your name I will crawl, because You fell 3 times carrying my cross. I will long for Your presence and trust You have not left or forsake me because You are the God of truth.
If I can’t feel Your presence I will remember all the times I could feel Your Almighty presence and abounding Love. If I can’t pray I will ask my Guardian Angel to take over for me. I will believe You know what’s best and are working in me. I will endure because I will rely on Your strength and know this too, will pass from me.
"Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient with it until it receives the early and the late rains.[b]8 You too must be patient. Make your hearts firm, because the coming of the Lord is at hand. 9 Do not complain, brothers, about one another, that you may not be judged. Behold, the Judge is standing before the gates. 10 Take as an example of hardship and patience, brothers, the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. 11 Indeed we call blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of the perseverance of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, because “the Lord is compassionate and merciful." James 5:7-11
"You who dwell in the Most High, who abide in the shelter of the Most High,
who abide in the shade of the Almighty ,
Say to the Lord, “My refuge and fortress,
my God in whom I trust.”
He will rescue you from the fowler’s snare,
from the destroying plague,
He will shelter you with his pinions,
and under his wings you may take refuge;
his faithfulness is a protecting shield.
You shall not fear the terror of the night
nor the arrow that flies by day,
Nor the pestilence that roams in darkness,
nor the plague that ravages at noon.
Though a thousand fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
near you it shall not come."
Psalm 91:1-7
